Calimesa gets the State of the City at luncheon

Calimesa Chamber of Commerce held the Calimesa State of the City luncheon at Mesa View Middle School on June 24. The campus multi-purpose room was filled with members of businesses, organizations and residents who arrived on the newly completed road to the school.

    Citizens came to the aid of an 83-year-old Yucaipa male driver who was the victim of an attempted carjacking by Glen Dewitt, 24, of Yucaipa on June 24, and detained the combative suspect until law enforcement arrived and made an arrest.

  • City of Yucaipa announces application to Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2

    As part of the continued effort to mitigate the impacts of home foreclosures, the city of Yucaipa will be applying to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for funding assistance through the second round of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. NSP2 funds are authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Recovery Act is allocating $1.93 billion to NSP2 activities, which include, as a primary goal, the revitalization of targeted neighborhoods negatively affected by abandoned or foreclosed properties.

Yucaipa National Junior League All-Stars (ages 13-14) tuned up for its Fourth of July showdown with rival Yucaipa American by pounding out 20 hits in a 15-5 win over Desert Hot Springs on June 28.



  • Volleyball workshop from July 12 to Aug. 9 at MGA

    DIGS Volleyball is a year-round recreational volleyball program for boys and girls in kindergarten to eighth grade that focuses on the overall development of volleyball fundamentals. It emphasizes learning and improvement in skills. DIGS Volleyball aims to provide each participant with various skill levels with an equal opportunity to develop fundamental volleyball skills while having fun at the same time. Party Shoppe offers something for every celebration

Paul and Becky Latawiec started the Party Shoppe 25 years ago. It was then located on Outer Highway 10 and they only had a few tables and chairs. The family business has really grown over the years.
