Calimesa Chamber of Commerce held the Calimesa State of the City luncheon at Mesa View Middle School on June 24. The campus multi-purpose room was filled with members of businesses, organizations and residents who arrived on the newly completed road to the school.

Citizens came to the aid of an 83-year-old Yucaipa male driver who was the victim of an attempted carjacking by Glen Dewitt, 24, of Yucaipa on June 24, and detained the combative suspect until law enforcement arrived and made an arrest.

As part of the continued effort to mitigate the impacts of home foreclosures, the city of Yucaipa will be applying to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for funding assistance through the second round of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. NSP2 funds are authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Recovery Act is allocating $1.93 billion to NSP2 activities, which include, as a primary goal, the revitalization of targeted neighborhoods negatively affected by abandoned or foreclosed properties.
